According to a letter writer to the Post the Catholic Church's position is that all human life is sacred and this includes "the unborn and the women who carry them." Ok, and how does this correlate with their position against abortion even to save the mother's life? That is respecting women and holding their life sacred? What is even stupider is that if the mother dies so does the fetus so that means they've killed 2 lives instead of just one. Rick Santorum, that hypocritical anti-abortionist agreed with his wife's abortion to save her life using this very reasoning that her life was valuable and her children needed her and why should she be allowed to die when it wouldn't save the fetus anyhow? THAT is respecting women- too bad he believes that it applies only to his wife and no other women.
The latest thing to get Catholics up in arms is the requirement that "Catholic" organizations provide birth control to their employees through their health insurance. Ok, if they don't want to do that, stop pretending to be a religious organization, separate church and state and stop taking money from the federal government. I bet this rule only applies to organizations that take federal money. Of course, this is also hypocritical for them to get all upset about birth control since 90% of American Catholics use it- with the tacit approval of their priests and bishops. Again, it's ok for them but not for their employees who aren't even Catholic!
